Charming 19th-century Sitzendorf porcelain compote, known as “The Bug Catcher”, featuring a lively scene of a young boy with net in hand, caught mid-action. The figure is set against a floral-encrusted base, with applied blossoms in pastel hues and fine hand-painted detailing throughout. The openwork compote top, accented with gilding, was designed for potpourri or sweetmeats, marrying decorative whimsy with functionality. A true showcase of Sitzendorf’s Rococo Revival artistry, combining playful narrative figures with lavish floral ornamentation.
